Russian Deli
December 24, 2009
From Sawtat about Aleksey Market on Thompson Lane:
I dont’ know if you have been there yet, but I just went to the Russian deli over on Thompson Lane (Berry Hill), and their cured meats are totally amazing. I got Hungarian spicy salami and “hunter” salami, and they are both awesome and super cheap ($2.25 -$2.50 for a quarter pound). Dark Russian rye bread, chicken dumplings (frozen for soup) and yogurt Havarti cheese. I can’t believe we haven’t been there before now.
We have other friends who swear by the place, and have been going there for years. Whenever they have a get-together, they serve one of our favorite party dishes: pickled white herring from Aleksey. (615) 383-0071.
