Roast Duck

November 10, 2009

There is no roast duck, Chinese style, in Nashville.  There are sad efforts at P.F. Chang and InterAsian Market on Nolensville.  But if you’re coming from Atlanta, stop by Hoa Binh Market at:

4897 Buford Hwy # 116
Chamblee, GA 30341-3667
(770) 457-3383

Some of the best Chinese roast duck, pork, BBQ you’ll ever have.  Grab some of the rice noodles ready to go as well.  After your drive home,  add some soy sauce to the noodles and enjoy with your roast meats.  Don’t microwave the meat.  You’ll only dry it.  Throw into a toaster oven to warm, or just eat at room temperature if you’ve got no time or toaster oven.

Saute some scallions in 4-5 tablespoons of olive oil and sprinkle on top for a final touch.

Hey, I know, there isn’t good Cantonese Roasted Duck in this town. BUT, Laos Trading (8th Ave S near Edgehill) has duck on Friday and Saturday from a maker in Atlanta. Wang Enterprise (3rd Ave N in Germantown) also has ducks Friday and Saturday in the fridge in the front corner. King Market in Antioch seems to have a Laotian version of duck. It is tasty but does not have the red crispy skin, it is just duck skin.
