Southern Hannukah

December 17, 2009

We had some friends over for a Southern style Hannukah the other night. I served fried latkes using this recipe with  sour cream and apple sauce. We substituted vegetable oil for olive oil so we could crank up the heat a little (also because we did not have enough olive oil in the house). The latkes were slow cooking but crispy on the outside and delicious. Our friend Ms. B brought over her famous boneless fried chicken. BT fried up his mom’s Vietnamese fishcakes, and we served those with the pickled daikon and carrot she prepared for us during her last visit. We have a whole tub of the yummy stuff. Sawtat provided some greens for healthy eating. We drank and ate the second night of Hannukah away.
